New vaulted ceiling insulation

Roof Transformation with Vaulted Ceiling Insulation, Olympia, WA

The homeowner had concerns about the attic’s ventilation and needed roof repairs. Our team arrived promptly, ready to complete the attic and roof insulation in just two days.

On day one, we partnered with a roofing contractor to finish insulating the vaulted ceiling. The roofer opened the plywood, giving us access to clean and insulate the roof. Once our work was done, the roofer completed the remainder of the roof repairs.

On day two, we completely transformed the attic from a neglected space into a clean, efficient, and secure part of the home. This involved removing old blown-in insulation, thoroughly cleaning and sanitizing the area, and sealing it to prevent rodents and birds from entering. We also installed baffles and filled all cavities with new blown-in insulation.

The homeowner was pleased with the results, knowing their attic and roof is now safeguarded against rodents, moisture, and airflow issues. Thanks to our thorough remediation and expertise, the home is healthier and more energy-efficient!

Location: Olympia, WA

Duration: 2 days

Services:

  • Attic Cleaning: Removed all blown-in insulation, damaged fiberglass batt insulation, and attic debris, including wood scraps. Cleared out rodent and bird feces, nests, and any carcasses. Sprayed the rafters with RMR 141 for sanitization.
  • Rodent and Bird Exclusion: Sealed all potential entry points to prevent rodents and birds from re-entering the attic. This involved inspecting roof vents, filling holes with steel wire and construction foam, and re-screening bird-block vents and soffits as needed.
  • Air Sealing: Foamed and sealed all air leaks where plumbing, ducting, or electrical wiring penetrated the attic to improve energy efficiency and prevent drafts.
  • Attic Baffle Installation: Installed appropriately sized baffles to ensure proper airflow through attic ventilation areas. This also prevented blown-in insulation from blocking vents or falling through attic access points.
  • Attic Insulation: Filled all attic cavities with blown-in fiberglass insulation using a blower machine, achieving a depth of R-49 or greater for optimal insulation performance.
  • Bathroom Fan Duct Installation: Installed four flexible air ducts with a vapor barrier jacket between the fan outlets and roof vents, ensuring a tight fit with undamaged vapor barriers for proper airflow and moisture resistance.
  • Vaulted Ceiling Insulation: Removed old insulation, applied air sealing, and installed R38 24″ batted insulation in the vaulted ceiling area for enhanced thermal efficiency.
